Majestic mountains, green valleys, meandering rivers, orchards and vineyards define the valley of Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh. Since it shares its border with Tibet the influence of Tibetan culture is strongly felt here.

Kinnaur is also known as the 'Land of fairytales' and remains snow-clad for six months, quite like Spiti and Lahaul. Divided into two main valleys — Sangla Valley and the Hangrang Valley, Kinnaur is divided into three administrative areas, Pooh, Kalpa, and Nichar.

'Parikarma' (revolution) of Kinnaur Kailash, abode of Shiva, is among the popular trails. Bhaba Valley and Sangla Valley treks are other popular trails. Kinnaur and surrounding areas were believed to be part of Magadha kingdom and then the Mauryan empire during 6th century BC.

It subsequently came under the influence of the Guge kingdom of Tibet between the 9th and 12th centuries. Kinnaur was divided into seven regions, known as Sat Khund. Many small chiefs of this area fought among each other for power. Several forts from this time, like Labrang, Moorang, and Kamru are evidences of this conflict.

Trekking One of the prime activities that tourists can indulge in is trekking. Kinnaur offers amazing options for trekking due its landscape. There are 9 trekking routes in the region, namely, Bhabha-Pin Valley, Kinner Kailash Parikrama, Sangla to Barang, Sangla to Dhamwari, Tapri to Kalpa, Sangla to Dodra Kawar, Reckong Peo to Nako, Tappri to Chhitkul and Chhitkul to Gangoitri. The degree of difficulty for trekking varies considerably from moderate to difficult and tourists can choose the elevation according to their ability from 2500 metres to 5500 metres.

There is nothing special expect the board of I ❤️ Kinnaur. No doubt the place is a must visit one if you have time and don't want to miss on anything in Spiti Valley. Serene and mesmerizing view from the top! A must visit place for all atleast once in life.

This place is a unique combination of beauty and danger, one of the best places in Himachal, to reach here you have to pass through a very dangerous narrow path along with apple orchards, it is located just 3 kms away from Kalpa village.
